Fun in the Sun. [Open to anyone who's in Hawaii!]

The jet ride from Kansas to Hawaii had been long, and most of them had dozed off and on during it. It had been a long time since he'd been to Hawaii, and he had been looking forward to it now more than he had even the first time he'd gone. And now, as he lay back on one of the sandy white beaches of Kauai, sunglasses on and a pina colada in one hand, he smiled, listening to the quiet sounds of the ocean lapping at the beach.

"Do these... monsters exist here?" She asked curiously, with all of her experience with what her cousin had seen of her other alternate future just a few months ago, she knew things could change between realities.

"They do. You just have to look for the signs." He was starting to wonder if she thought he was a little crazy explaining hunting this way.

"What kind of monsters are we talking about?" And no, she doesn't think he sounds a bit crazy, mostly she's curious because she thought she had seen pretty much everything one could see before.

"Anything you've ever seen in a horror movie, basically. Or urban legends you've read." He's glad to see she's curious about it and not completely discounting everything he's saying.

"Oh," she raised her eyebrows, sitting up and looking at him, "you mean like ghosts and vampires and werewolves?"

He nodded a little. "Yeah, exactly like that."

Her eyes widened slightly and she stared at him for a moment, "wow, do you... can you do that too?"

"Yeah...yeah I can. Much to the dismay of my mom. I bullied my uncle into training me." He paused for a moment, letting out a breath. "The reason she doesn't want me doing it is...because that's how my dad died."

"Oh," her face fell a little and she nodded, "I guess I can understand that. How old were you?"

"Six months," he answered quietly.

Chloe nodded a little, "I'm sorry."

He shrugged a little. "It happens. The kicker is that after he died...Mom found out she was pregnant with my brother."

Chloe's eyes widened a little and she turned to look at him, she couldn't imagine having that happen to her, having a six month old baby, losing her significant other and finding out she was pregnant and having to deal with all of it at the same time.

"That must have been hard on her." Understatement of the year.

He snorted softly. It really was the understatement of the year. "My Uncle Sam helped her get through it. Didn't marry her until Matt and I were five and six. Then...she had my sister Zoey."

"Three kids?" Chloe asked, she knew he had mentioned a brother and a sister earlier but she was only now processing the information. She couldn't imagine herself with one kid, let alone three.

"Yeah," he glanced at her, a slight smile forming on his face when he saw her shock. "Hard to imagine, huh?"

"I don't think hard to imagine quite describes it," she smiled awkwardly and pursed her lips together, "the thought of ever having kids terrifies me, I can't even imagine having three."

"If it helps, you're actually a really good mom," he admitted. Yeah, the two of them fought, but she was still a good mom, he wouldn't deny that.

"Your mom is a really good mom," she corrected him and smiled softly, "and I'm glad you think that, but we had different lives, I'm obviously not the same person she is."

"I don't know. You guys probably had the same experiences up until my mom met my dad. Because you have the same mannerisms...both work with Oliver...Don't discredit yourself just yet."

"We'll see," she smiled at him and shrugged, "so you mom does the whole Watchtower thing too? I'm guessing she doesn't work at the Planet anymore either?"

"Yeah, she does. I think she still freelances a little, but she works mostly as Watchtower."

Chloe raised her eyebrows at that, she couldn't imagine how she did it, having three kids, doing Watchtower work and freelancing, "yeah I've considered the freelancing thing, maybe once we don't have apocalypse looming over our heads I'll manage to get some writing done."

"Yeah, somehow I don't see you having time for freelancing with everything else going on," he shook his head a little. "You could write the guy that controls this stuff and tell him to hit pause for a while. You'd probably make a pretty compelling argument."

Chloe smiled softly at that and cocked her head, "and who do you think I should be writing my complaint to?"
