Oliver made his way into Bruce Wayne's living room. He wasn't surprised that Bruce wasn't there because Bruce hadn't been expecting him. Of course, he would have been late anyway. Because he was, after all, Bruce Wayne.

He made himself comfortable on the sofa, folding his arms behind his head, a smirk on his face as he waited for his old friend to show up.

Bruce had, for whatever reason, decided that an early patrol was a good idea. Of course, an hour into it, Alfred was calling him, letting him know that Master Ollie was in the living room waiting for him. With a sigh, and slight confusion, he turned back to the warehouse, scrapping any ideas of a decent patrol. He would have to wait for Ollie to leave before he could go out again.

He strolled into his living room and threw his jacket at Ollie's head. "Careful old man, you might fall asleep there. I know it's a comfortable couch and everything -- more expensive than you could imagine, after all -- but what would the neighbours think if you stayed the night? Your reputation might become, dare I say, compromised ?"

Oliver chuckled and caught the jacket easily. "My reputation? I think you're the only billionaire around here that Gotham cares about." He smirked and set the jacket down beside him.

"I'm surprised you're here, actually. Where are all the models?" he mocked, grinning. "Don't they generally follow you around everywhere?"

"Ah ha," he exclaimed, heading to the bar. "I knew you were here to steal my things. Did you finally get sick of living with such cheap, hideous furnishings? It's alright to say I'm better than you, Ollie. It won't make you any less of a man...because you're not much one to begin with."

He poured himself a scotch and grinned at his friend. "Drink?"

He snorted in response to the ribbing. "How I've missed your sense of humor," he joked, rising to his feet. "And yes to the drink. Assuming you have anything worth drinking. While your taste in furniture might be better than mine, I've always had a better set of taste buds when it comes to decent alcohol." He grinned.

Bruce gave a slight nod of acquiescence. "I'm willing to concede that point," he began, walking over to his friend, "but only barely. It's only because I drink so much of the stuff, that my taste buds can't distinguish expensive liquors. It's all the same to me." He handed Ollie his drink and sat down in the chair across from him. Lifting the glass, he took a satisfying sip.

"So. I'm trying to figure out exactly why you're here. Is it because you missed me? Tell me you missed me."

"Of course I missed you. I miss you every day." He smirked and sat back down on the sofa once more, taking a drink of the scotch and nodding his approval. "Color me impressed. I think your taste buds have begun to recover."

He leaned back. "Actually I just happened to be in the neighborhood and thought I'd drop in on my oldest friend in the world." He grinned again.

"Fair enough then," he replied, swirling his amber coloured drink. "Reminiscing, are we? Of your dreary time before you met me?" A sparkle entered Bruce's eyes as he took yet another sip. He'd have to pace himself or else he'd be a mess for tonight.

"You have to admit, I've really made your life worth living."

"Naturally." Oliver grinned and took another drink of the scotch, as well. He cocked his head to the side. "So how's business?" he asked curiously.

"Business is business, but surely you didn't come all this way to ask me about that? If you wanted insider secrets, I could give you the name of the man giving them out. I really do need to fire him one day," he murmured to himself.

"According to the latest reports, we're doing well, although I'm still under Tony on the Forbes. At least I'm above you though."

"Yeah, but I'm still number one on the most available bachelor's list," he said with a smirk. "Even if I'm not really available."

He shrugged. "No, I didn't come to talk about business, but I figured it was polite to ask."

"Screw politeness. We get that every day while we're schmoozing our kind," he said, with a snort. "And I'm still annoyed you got number one. I'm prettier."

He gazed at his drink for a moment and, before lifting it back to his lips, he asked, "So again, I ask. Why are you here?" It'd been a while since Ollie had just dropped in. There had to be a reason.

"Honestly, I just wanted to say hi," he said with a shrug. "Figured you were probably missing me and that I should grace you with my presence." He smirked. "But I get the feeling you're trying to get rid of me. Expecting company?" He raised an eyebrow.

Damnit Bruce, way to be suspicious. He merely shook his head, and gave a little grunt. "As if."

He thought for a moment before adding quickly, "Rachel isn't speaking to me. Who else would I want over?"

He frowned a little at that. "Something happen?" There was a hint of concern in his voice. He knew Bruce and Rachel had basically been in love with each other for years, and for whatever reason, seemed to keep each other at arm's length.

"No." Tapping the side of his glass, he sighed deeply.

"And yes. But let's go with no. Rachel already isn't speaking to me; I don't even want to think about what she'd do if I said anything."

Downing his drink suddenly, he stood up. "Re-fill?"

Frowning, he shook his head a little, unable to help feeling worried about his friend. "Pass on the re-fill. But you know, if you ever want to talk, I won't say anything. I'm good at keeping secrets."

Really good at it, he thought wryly.

He chose to fill his glass before saying anymore. It was such an odd concept, to have someone he could talk to, even though he had no such qualms in high school. Then again, he didn't have as many secrets in high school.

"Have you ever done something that you thought was a good idea at the time but the INSTANT it was over, you thought "Oh fuck?"" He paused and took a good swallow of his drink. Batman was taking a night off tonight.

"Yeah. Want to guess what that decision was?"

Oliver studied him for a moment, watching the way his shoulders tensed. "Yeah, I've had a few of those moments." He paused. "Oh.." He rose to his feet.

He was silent for a moment. "You've been in love with her forever. It's not that shocking." He frowned.

From: [identity profile] neverontime.livejournal.com
"Yeah, that's not really the decision I regret." He swallowed thickly and took a deep breath.

"I basically waited until she fell asleep and left." There. It was out and he couldn't take it back. Even though it was completely unavoidable, even though she knew that would happen, it was what he regretted the most. "Smooth, huh? Is that something a man in love would do?"

That caught him off guard. He stared at Bruce blankly for a long moment, trying to reason out in his mind what on earth would have made him do that. "Is it the committment thing?" he asked uncertainly, shaking his head a little.

Bruce shrugged, his drink starting to slosh in his hand without him meaning to. "I don't know. Is it?" He returned to his seat, sitting down with a heavy sigh.

"You tell me, because I really didn't want to go and yet I did."

Oliver watched him intently. "How long ago did all this happen?" he asked uncertainly.

From: [identity profile] neverontime.livejournal.com
"Does it even matter?" He quirked an eyebrow. "Trust me. It was long enough ago that I'm embarrassed about it, but not recent enough that either of us would cry about it."

And say goodbye to glass number three. Thank god he'd actually eaten supper, so he wasn't too drunk. "Come on Ollie. Have another drink. Make me feel at least somewhat less pathetic about being a womanizer, let alone a drunkard."

Sighing softly, he moved over and poured himself another glass of the scotch. "You should talk to her." His voice was quiet, but not judgemental. He took a drink of the alcohol and turned to face him once more.

"Before the time spans gets any longer."

"And say what? Please, tell me and I'd gladly say it."

His volume increased as he started to get more and more agitated. "I'm sorry for leaving, I forgot I left my stove on? You were perfect, the moment wasn't? I suddenly remembered I'm gay? Because all those reasons would make more sense than the truth."
