Reaching Out. With chloeas.

Oliver glanced at Chloe sideways as he sat behind the wheel of his little orange sports car as he drove them to the airport. The jet was leaving in a half-hour for Snowmass, Colorado. He was anxious to get out of Kansas, and not just because he was feeling restless, but because he truly thought it would do Chloe some good to get out of there for awhile, as well.

"Wanna listen to Christmas music?" he asked, reaching toward the radio.

"I'm here," he said gently.

She raised her eyebrows a little, surprised by his words and smiled slightly, "I know you are," with a pause, she kept her eyes on his, "I am too, you know that, right?"

He nodded slightly, meeting her gaze and holding it. "I know." He reached out and laid a hand on her arm.

She looked down at his hand then placed her own over it, looking at him again, "are you okay?"

"Yeah, I'm all right," he said softly, turning his hand so it was gripping hers gently.

Chloe held his gaze for a moment then nodded, smiling softly and giving his hand a light squeeze "Good, but you can tell me if you aren't."

He studied her for a moment, torn between wanting to talk to her and not wanting to put anything else on her shoulders. He wanted her to open up, because she was the one he was worried about. "I know I can."

Squinting slightly, she watched him, there was something he wasn't saying and she wasn't going to push him, but she was going to try one more time, "anything you want to say?"

Maybe she'd open up if he did. At least that's what he hoped. "I talked to Tess a couple days ago." His voice was quiet.

"Oh," she frowned a little, sitting up slightly, her hand still resting on his, "how did it go?"
