Oliver had only been in the hospital for a day (and not a full one at that) and he was more than ready to get out. Despite the fact that he'd lost enough blood a transfusion had to be performed, and the fact that he was in a great deal of pain (which he wasn't about to readily admit), he just wanted to go home.

But to no avail. Dr. Hamilton informed him he'd be there at least a couple more days before he'd have his freedom back.

"I hate hospitals," he grumbled, flipping through the TV channels once more.

"Spend nine months in a coma, and then you can talk to me." Faith stood in the doorway of Oliver's room with her arms crossed. She knew a thing or two about hospital hate, still wasn't comfortable being near the place if she could avoid it, but it was Oliver. He was good people. That meant showing up and seeing for herself that he was gonna be ok.

He turned his head at the sound of the unexpected voice and grinned at Faith. "So I can't talk to you now?" he teased. "That's a shame."

"You can, you're just not gonna get a hell of a lot of sympathy from me." Faith smirked, stepping into the room at the teasing and taking a chair by his bed. "What'd you get yourself into, killer?"

He smiled a bit, but it was weary. "Giant spiky monster with very large claws. Don't worry though--it's been taken care of." He studied her for a moment. "What brings you to Metropolis?"

An eyebrow raised at that. "Heard my favorite rich boy was laid up in the hospital. Had to make sure they were treatin' you right. Though still wonderin' why you didn't leave the monster type to me and mine."

He glanced at her, then toward the door, which was still open. "I can't tell you everything, because it's not really my place. But...it wasn't a demon. At least not exactly. And I didn't go after it."

She nod in understanding. "Gotta love those gray areas... or not." Faith chewed on her lip while she processed that information. "So not-quite-a-demon had a grudge and decided to put your pretty boy ass in the hospital? You sure it's taken care of?"

He nodded slightly. "It's gone," he assured her, honestly wishing he could fill her in, because frankly he trusted her. She was one of the good guys, and even if the things they dealt with on a regular basis tended to be very different, he considered her a friend and ally.

Secrets were something she could understand. Faith knew better than to take it personally, especially considering Oliver had gone out of his way to help her out when he wasn't getting a damn thing out of it. If there were things he wasn't saying, she trusted that it was for a good reason. "Means I don't have to play bodyguard then. Wouldn't do anyone a whole lot of good to have two hospital hatin', stir crazy brawlers in a room."

"Well, as long as we're not brawling, it's probably fine," he joked. "Personally not quite up to it at the moment." He shifted in the bed. "How are things back in Cleveland?"

"Yeah, might have to put that one on the back burner for a while." Faith leaned back in the chair. "They're goin'. Hellmouth is a hellmouth is a hellmouth. We're pretty much just doin' our thing."

He nodded slightly, studying her for a moment. "Thanks for the invitation to the Halloween party. If I'm sprung in time, I'll try to put in an appearance." He grinned.

"Worst case scenario is I bust you out. You can go as Roosevelt, wheelchair and all."

"Ouch. Not quite what I had in mind for a costume." He smirked.

There was a bit of a laugh from Faith at that. "Like I said, worst case. Though now I'm curious what costume you would go for."

He considered her for a moment. "I was thinking of something along the lines of the Green Arrow."

Faith smiled in approval. "He's hot, got the whole super hero thing goin' for him. Could do a hell of a lot worse. Least you weren't thinkin' about Batman. You just know that dude has issues."

He chuckled at her words, ducking his head a little. "Well, he does dress as a giant bat."

She laughed. "Seriously, yo. What the hell is with that? Bet he's wicked ugly under the mask."

"No idea. But be honest--aren't you the least bit curious who he really is?" he asked, raising his eyebrows. He was certainly curious, and he'd met the guy.

"Hell yeah. Never really got the mask thing but whatever." She shrugged. "To each his own."

And then she paused, considering. "Or her. Maybe that's the big secret."

"Well, maybe it's to protect their loved ones," he said with a shrug. "I don't think either of them have any actual super powers."

He paused at that, too. "You have a point."

It was something she hadn't considered, though really, she should have. How often had Dawn, or Xander and Willow been used against Buffy? Hell, Kakistos had used Diana against her when she was practically just starting in the slaying game.

"Touche. Guess since I never had to worry about it, didn't really take it into consideration."

He studied her for a moment. "How long have you been doing this?" he asked curiously.
