Oliver stood outside the theater on the square, leaning back against the brick building casually and looking up at the sky. His mind was working over the details of the case in Gotham that Bruce had been trying to figure out, but he was just as stumped as his friend was. He frowned a little as a drop of rain hit his face and he sighed a little as it was followed by another.

He looked out to the street and smiled a bit as he saw Chloe's car pull into a parking place. He pushed himself away from the building and headed toward her as she climbed out of the vehicle.

"Well, I'm personally leaning toward the burger and fries myself. With a strawberry milkshake." He smiled. "But if you like turkey clubs, they're pretty good here, too."

"Oh I'm definitely going for a burger, but there are a lot of options," she looked back down at the menu and nodded a little, "I might stick to the basics."

"Basics are always good." He studied her for a moment, then looked at the menu again, as well. He was a little surprised at how relaxed he felt with her. That was unusual. He wondered what was so different about her than other women he'd gone out with.

A second later, she closed the menu and leaned back against the booth, reaching inside her purse and checking her cellphone quickly, of course, two missed calls and a couple of texts from Lois, she wasn't used to the time difference either and Chloe did her best not to laugh at her cousin's 'you're getting laid, aren't you? Slut. Now I have to go find someone too so you won't can't beat me.'

Shaking her head a little, she slid her phone back into her purse, Lois would freak out when Chloe told her she was going to Gotham with Oliver and that no, it didn't have anything to do with sex. It was weird, she had to admit, she didn't do a lot of dating and as far as she knew, he didn't either and yet, neither one of them had insinuated anything about this particular night ending in bed.

As much as Oliver would love to have insinuated just that, if he was spending the next evening in Gotham again, he wanted to be out patrolling tonight. As if signalling his fate, he tensed just a little at the sound of a siren wailing in the distance, but forced himself to relax once more before she could look up from her phone and notice.

"Ready to order?" he asked, smiling at her, his hands folded on the table.

"Yeah, I'm ready." She smiled at him and nodded towards her phone apologetically, "sorry I had to make sure the world isn't ending or that Lois doesn't need me to bail her out of something."

He chuckled. "Hey, don't worry about it. She's family," he said with an easy shrug. He waved slightly in the direction of the older waitress, who smiled at him warmly as she approached the table.

Chloe ordered then leaned back, watching his interaction with the woman as he placed his order as well, probably another place he comes to often.

He watched her head away and looked back at Chloe. "That's Agnes. She's worked here since this place opened fifteen years ago," he told her with a warm smile. "One of the nicest ladies I've ever met."

He didn't tell her that a few months ago, when he was out patrolling, he'd stopped a couple of muggers from robbing her just a couple blocks away. Ever since, he'd been coming here a lot more to check on her and make sure she was still doing all right.

Raising her eyebrows a little, Chloe smiled, nodding, "that's nice, she seems like a nice lady."

He nodded slightly and smiled back at her. "So tell me more about you, Chloe," he said, leaning forward a little with interest. "I know you're a hell of a writer. But what do you like to do for fun?"

She cocked her head and sat up, leaning her arms over the table and leaning forward a little too, "for fun? I work." She grinned.

He grinned in amusement. "You know what they say. All work and no play..."

She shrugged softly, smiling at him, "and what happens when you consider work, play?"

"Well, then the world implodes," he teased. "Before you know it everything is backwards. Red light means go, green light means stop, it snows in the summer and it's eighty in the winter. It's the utter reversing of polarities. And you really don't want to be responsible for that, do you?" He grinned.
